As the presidential election approaches, our students are consuming news in greater quantities and from more sources than ever before. This workshop will explore core concepts of media literacy, particularly as relates to how Jewish students absorb and assimilate the news they hear that relates to their Jewish identity. In this workshop, we will delve into how students can develop healthy news habits, fact-check the stories they encounter, and identify trustworthy sources of information. We will discuss strategies for helping students to develop as critical consumers, sharers, and creators of information.

This workshop is the second offering in the Jewish Values in Living Democracy: Supporting students through a polarizing election cycle series, intended for educators in Jewish settings.

This workshop will not be recorded for later viewing due to the interactive nature of the program.
